Timeline of the Stories

Inter-Space Freight Systems, Ltd.

We'll start our story with the founding of ISFS in the year 3000 "Standard Cycle," as referred to in the stories.  It could be any year in the distant future, and 3000 was chosen only for ease of considering years and events. Regardless of the year label marking our beginning, everything takes place following the development of Faster Than Light (FTL) travel by humankind, subsequent development of the Portal Gate or "Artificial Wormhole" systems, and the century-long Mortuus Wars.  For convenience, we'll also use the names of the twelve months from Old Terra to mark the passage of time within a given year.  Naturally, such name and time conventions have little relevance on other worlds.  With apologies to Dr. Einstein, the other unrealistic and more-for-convenience aspect of our timeline means that space travel has magically solved the problem of relative time, meaning that travelers perception of time is the same as for those who are not speeding through the galaxy at inconceivable velocities.
