The Poems of Dingus Donogal

WON'T BE LONG
-by Dingus Donogal

Tomorra' isna' promised to us martals here b'low,
   For loif on Earth is fragile and 'tis soon we hafta' go.
So if ye think t'hold a grudge be careful what ye say;
   'Cause won't be long, the friend is gone, and from ye slipped away.
   'Cause won't be long, the friend is gone, and from ye slipped away.

Enjoy the one beside ye be they woman or a man.
   For even if we disagree we do the best we can.
Appreciate their value if in friendship or in love;
   'Cause won't be long they'll soon be gone and taken up above.
   'Cause won't be long they'll soon be gone and taken up above.

Open up yer heart a bit, be willin' just t'share.
   The odds are good that next to ye is someone needin' care.
Maybe just a friendly word or greetin' t'be told.
   'Cause won't be long they'll soon be gone and opportune's gone cold.
   'Cause won't be long they'll soon be gone and opportune's gone cold.

Understand the words me friends, I don't mean just romance.
   But could be just a simple talk, or wee and harmless dance.
Be open tho' to sparks o' love if hearts t'gether grow;
   'Cause won't be long that they'll be gone and mem'ry's all ye'll hold.
   'Cause won't be long that they'll be gone and mem'ry's all ye'll hold.
