Risking All for a Rescue

“I know that ship,” Trig said quietly, drawing his handgun.

“What?  Who is it?” Tsuanna asked.

A hatch opened in the side with a human male standing in it.  He surveyed the land and saw the team hunched down in the undergrowth of the tree line.  He beckoned.

“Come on!” he yelled.  “Another one of those ships will be here soon.  We have to GO!”  The man stepped out of the black ship onto the ground, excitedly motioning for the team to enter.  “Come ON!”

“Donald Miller?” Addie said, confused.  “Isn’t that the vending machine sales guy?”

Trig kept his handgun at ready, unable to stop Tsuanna of taking steps from the underbrush.  Matis smiled dumbly, waving his good hand.  “Hey, look.  It’s Donald!”

“If you want rescued then hurry up.  There are more on the way.”  Don was insistent.  What was wrong with these people?  Surely after downing the first attacking ship they would realize he wasn’t out to hurt them.

Matis leaned on Addie as she followed Tsuanna.  Trig jogged ahead handgun out and ready.  “If this is a trick, you’re a dead man.”

“No trick.  We have to go.  NOW.”
