The Mortuus:

Race of primarily deceased humans reanimated via nanobot technology called Stycari.  Responsible for a century long war against "living" races and planets for dominant control of galactic resources.  Thought by most to have been exterminated during the Century War, a remnant survives by trying to stay hidden or disguised within the galaxy.

Murasaki: Mortuus agent and assassin responsible for recapture or neutralization of stolen Stycari and Mortuus assets. Reanimated during the last years of the Mortuus War.

Lucifer: Murasaki's immediate commander, sensei, and reanimator. Disguised as human, maintains a thriving business that serves as an information hub.

Grigorsky: Mortuus Commander.  Disguised as a human, fronts as a managing partner and heavy freighter Captain of a small fleet ore-hauling freight service.

Mazy: Android with human female appearance. Programmed with Stycari, Mazy is one of the most advanced and intelligent androids in the Galaxy. Maintained by Lucifer, Mazy serves a dual role as security and "entertainment" in Murphy's Bar on Station 2176.

Oreno Mining & Minerals:

Mining business with operations on several worlds and among asteroid belts. The business is a front for illegal cloning using Mortuus technology.  

DaVinci: Founder of Oreno Mining and Mineral.  Ran extensive criminal syndicates in Rim systems and mastermind of the illicit cloning operations by trading in Stycari and related forbidden Mortuus technologies.  

Gerald Fenner: Business leader and strategist of Oreno Mining & Mineral. Former partner of Thomas Godard, CEO of the discredited Godard Logistics.

The Rebane News Team:  

Well-known and highly regarded independent journalist team headquartered on the planet, Anapolia.  Famous for well-researched pieces exposing graft, political corruption, illegal businesses, and other galaxy-spanning criminal operations.  The team's success set standards of journalistic integrity and influence, causing several news and galaxy broadcast operations to open business in the growing economy of Anapolia.

Tsuanna Rebane: Founder and primary correspondent of the team.  

Walter "Trig" Triguero: Security Chief and personal bodyguard of Tsuanna. New Earth citizenship and former Core Systems "Special Ops" military officer.

Aadelheide "Addie" Tamm: Head of on-site field team.  Director and Film Crew Chief.

Matis Petronis: On-site Field Team camera operator and technician.

Benas "Ben" Koppel: On-site Field Team and Editor-in-Chief of syndicated Rebane News reports.

Lina Justa: On-site Field Team Producer.

Order of Cohorts, also called Companions:

Galaxy spanning, centralized organization of hired escorts and companions.  Mostly human with a few human compatible species.  Individuals go through years of formal training in histories, cultures, psychology, diplomatic, culinary and martial arts training.  Physical training and attention to intimate relations is included to serve multiple needs of clients.  Acolytes who complete and pass the rigorous standards are graduated to Initiate Companion level, with five higher ranks achievable through specific combinations of mastery.  All acolytes undergo a strict vetting and competency process before admission into the Order.  Three primary rules govern the Order.  

1. Client needs as specified in contracted services are paramount for the Companion on assignment.

2. Confidentiality of clients is a higher purpose than the Companion's life.

3. Loyalty and Service follows the scale of Order of Cohorts first, Client Service second, and Self third.

Special Note: Under no circumstances is a Companion's death to be included as part of a contract. Any Companion's death in service deemed the direct result of Client action is to be met with severe and uncompromising fines and penalties, up to and including total forfeiture of all client assets.

Varahi: Supreme Mistress and Head of the Order of Cohorts. Varahi, referred to as "Mother" by all acolytes, has led the order for nearly two standard-cycle centuries.  She was a fourth generation of humans who had been genetically altered to survive harsh environments creating a natural immunity to nearly all known diseases and illnesses.  She is unable to bear children, a side-effect of the genetic enhancements afflicting nearly ninety percent of her kind.

Mina: Master Companion level two especially gifted in psychology and guided meditation.

Chuluun Saran: Master Companion level three gifted in Business and Sentient Relations, Diplomacy, and Psychology.

Annika Dahl: Master level Companion level five, retired.  Mother of acolyte Brighton Dahl. Allowed to bear a child via contract with a client. Raised the child within the Order per stipulation of the contract upon the client's death prior to the child's birth.
