Attack in a Season of Peace

In December 2015 I had the pleasure and privilege of visiting Berlin, Germany. My hotel was one block from a marvelous Christmas Market at the foot of the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, in the heart of what was known as the "American Sector". I purchased food, gifts for my family, and a wonderful mug of glauwein from the booths. The atmosphere was festive, the cold not so cold, the people happy and welcoming, and the sites and smells delightful. Yesterday, a mad man barreled through this magical place, killing a dozen or more people, injuring dozens more, and transforming this place of peace and goodwill into a site of carnage and grief. I mourn for those whose lives are forever altered. I pray for them and their families. And I cry for the appropriate justice and actions to put an end to this insanity.
